As International Women's Day 2024 approaches, we take a moment to celebrate the remarkable contributions of the women we have in leadership roles at Feedr. We're proud to be able to say that our team is female led, and 60% of our entire team is female. These representations are a testament to our belief in the power of inclusion and the value of harnessing diverse perspectives to drive innovation and success as a company.

In celebration of this day, we are spotlighting our two female senior leaders: Katie Fenton and Sarah Wyld. Being a female led company, IWD is a special day where we aspire to inspire fellow females to grow and become leaders themselves, aligning with this year's theme of 'Inspire Inclusion'.

Meet Katie Fenton:

Katie Fenton, COO

Tell me a bit about yourself:

With a background in hospitality, I started at the company back in 2019 as an intern and worked in many different operational roles throughout the 5 years I've been here! I'm such a big foodie, so it's such a privilege to work in an industry that I love so much.

What is your proudest achievement to date at Feedr?

Having worked across COVID, it's safe to say it was a huge journey when 99% of our client base was no longer in the office - it was a transformative journey for the entire company, marked by resilience where we were able to stay true to our values. Personally, I took huge pride in being a part of this journey.

This year’s theme for IWD is ‘Inspire Inclusion’, what does this mean to you?

Inspire Inclusion’ to me means creating an environment where everyone feels valued, respected, and able to contribute their unique perspectives and talents, regardless of diversity. We can amplify diverse voices and experiences to create a more equitable and inclusive workplace and society.

Who is your biggest female inspiration?

My granny - she gave me my love for food!

What is your advice for young females wanting to progress in the tech industry?

My advice for young females aspiring to progress in the tech industry is to embrace your passion and curiosity, regardless of your academic or career experience. Don't be discouraged, and seek out opportunities for learning and growth, whether through internships, networking, or self-study.

Meet Sarah Wyld:

Sarah Wyld, VP of Customer Success and Vendor Relations

Tell me a bit about yourself:

The underpinning theme in my education and career to date has been my interest in sustainable food systems and an interest in how food choices not only impact human health but also our environment. When I first read Feedr’s brand mission back in 2018 I couldn’t think of a more fitting company to bring together my love for all things food and sustainability with the excitement of a fast paced start-up. Outside of the office, I can be found cooking, eating and hanging out in the countryside with my dog Wolfie.

What is your proudest achievement to date at Feedr?

My proudest achievement to date at Feedr stems from my involvement with the Cloud Canteen technology since 2018. Witnessing its evolution through various iterations and developments has been incredibly rewarding. Last year, seeing it successfully rolled out in the Netherlands, and now supporting our sister company Eatfirst in launching Cloud Canteen in Australia, stands as a significant milestone not only for me personally but also for the entire Feedr team, both past and present.

This year’s theme for IWD is ‘Inspire Inclusion’, what does this mean to you?

Be it in or outside the workplace, we are all responsible for cultivating environments that empower every single individual. Only in doing this can we achieve collective success.

Who is your biggest female inspiration?

It's nearly impossible to choose just one female when I come from a family of four remarkable women. My mother and both my sisters continuously inspire me in unique ways every single day. Each of them has dedicated their lives to the NHS, with my mother serving as a nurse and my sisters as doctors. Witnessing their unwavering commitment to medicine and their selflessness in helping others has always kept me motivated and humble. They've all achieved individual success, each possessing their own extraordinary qualities – from kindness and humility to strength and a hunger for knowledge. What's perhaps been most inspirational has been watching them seamlessly balance their demanding careers with the joys and challenges of motherhood, navigating both with grace and determination.

What is your advice for young females wanting to progress in the tech industry?

Understand and celebrate your strengths but in equal measure come to know yourself and understand your weaknesses. Each of these will allow you to remain humble. Most importantly, never stop learning.

Katie Fenton and Sarah Wyld exemplify the essence of female leadership at Feedr, embodying resilience, passion, and a commitment to inclusion. As we commemorate International Women's Day at Feedr, let us draw inspiration from their journeys into leadership and strive to create a more equitable and inclusive world, where every individual has the opportunity to succeed and thrive.
